Boswellia resin belongs to the Burseraceae family and originates from Asia and Africa. The use of frankincense tree resin is documented as far back as the time of the Temple in the Land of Israel.

Frankincense resin and its main active ingredient—boswellic acid—made headlines in the research world during the coronavirus period. Researchers examined their contribution to inflammatory conditions, particularly coronavirus disease. 

In traditional Chinese medicine, it is attributed to the properties of moving blood and stimulating the fusion of damaged tissues. These properties are usually used in situations that require support for the body's natural immune and anti-inflammatory activity.
