Dr. Fischer Opti-Safe Max 2 is an eye supplement with lutein and zeaxanthin, vitamins C and E, zinc, copper, and selenium. Each bottle holds 120 small capsules, a 60-day supply at the recommended two capsules a day.

What Is in This Eye Supplement

Per daily dose of two capsules:

  • Lutein: 10 mg
  • Zeaxanthin: 2 mg
  • Vitamin C: 500 mg
  • Vitamin E: 150 IU
  • Zinc (tri-zinc citrate): 25 mg
  • Copper (copper sulfate): 2 mg
  • Selenium (sodium selenite): 100 mcg

Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids found in leafy greens and egg yolk. They are the same pigments that concentrate naturally in the macula of the eye. Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal vision. Vitamins C and E, zinc, and selenium contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

About the AREDS2 Amounts

The US National Eye Institute's AREDS2 study tested 10 mg lutein and 2 mg zeaxanthin per day. Opti-Safe Max 2 provides those same amounts of lutein and zeaxanthin per daily dose. Its vitamin E and zinc levels are lower than the AREDS2 formula, so it is not a full replacement. If your eye doctor recommended an AREDS2 formula, show them this label first.

How to Take Opti-Safe Max 2

Take two capsules a day with food, or as directed by your physician. The capsules are small and easy to swallow. One bottle of 120 capsules lasts two months.
